Blackberry Jam
A jar of Smucker’s Simply Fruit Blackberry Jam at Wal-Mart, with other jars behind, including some delicious strawberry jelly. I took this with my 50mm lens at F2. The background is very blurry because we are close to the jars and the lens is wide open. At the same aperture, you have a larger depth of field when the focal point is far from the lens, and a smaller depth of field when the focal point is close.

  1. Hi Richard, definitely pursue if you like! You’re just 18, you have plenty of time to get prepped!

    1. I will, but I’m well into my Computer Science A.A. degree. I know photographers in their early 20’s with Bachelor’s degrees that can’t get work! It’s all about who you know.

I attend Daytona State College and I give out dozens of copies of my photos each day. It’s the same stuff I charged you for—but only because you’re in France. 👿 Many people have asked me for my phone number and I’ve told them I charge $20 an hour (min. 1 hour) for photography. Of course only one in ten will call and fewer will follow through, but I may be a freelance photographer before the year ends.

  2. This is really a good picture; it could go in a commercial. You could work for an advertising agency.
