Sure, better equipment with auto-everything makes taking a better photo easier. Sure there’s plenty of prentious nonsense in the hobby and in the industry and there are a lot of windbags who value their work way too highly.
However you should have named the article “10 pieces of evidence that sensationalist drivel gets attention”. To say there’s no art in it is nonsense. 10 photographers will cover the same event and there will be very little commonality in how they capture and post process.
If you believed what you were writing you’d find a different profession.

I have a newly planted home winery with about 40 vines on Long Island NY. The vines are 1 and 2 years old and are a mixture of all types from seedless to Cabs tos Chards and more. We have had almost 40 straight days of rain now and my vines are super stressed. I have a Chard vine that has the old leaves (2 year old)curling up and falling off. Another that is showing black on the lower stock and some of the leaves are dying and a couple others that just dont look healthy. The rest appear to be fine but not growing very fast but have some fruit. I put a small amount of Miricle grow down because I was afraid all the rain may have washed out the soil. Also the Ground is NOT soggy and My BlackBerry Vines are exploding better than expected as is my regular garden.
Any Ideas on what I should Do.

Im from Virginia…. i moved here for several reasons.. not just college. and i have seen many people not originally from here tlk bou going to DSC… Now that it is a 4 year school.. I’m sure more wil enroll from farther away.. Be careful using this plugin. I do not know why, but after an article is tweeted, my blog becomes inaccessible. As soon as I decativate the plugin, the site comes back. It’s a shame because it’s really quite cool and I want to use it, but my blog has just been down for the last 2 days because of this plugin.

I normally don’t really mind the captchas but sometimes they are literally unreadable and I have to try a few times to get it right. Usually they let you refresh the image if you can’t read it, and that’s a good feature, but sometimes that’s not possible and I just have to keep trying over and over.

I tried installing Tweet This on my blogsite, and it messed up the homepage. All other pages were fine, but it only showed first two and a half blog posts and the background jpg didn’t show up either. All went back to normal after uninstalling it. I’m sorry to say that I’ve had to take your plug-in off our blogs because it caused serious intermittent loading problems, and rendered wordpress admin functions unusable. No server errors, but page loading either very slow (minutes) or usually never finished. A minute later, accessible. Especially bad over the last three days. We are hosted at pair networks in the US. Is this something to do with Th8.us being overloaded, or something else? Access varied between countries, US best followed by UK and the Australia (where we’re based) and Hong Kong.

I can’t believe some of the Captcha codes on some major websites - Digg springs to mind - they are simply unreadable and often don’t have audio files to help you! I can understand it on rubbish sites and random blogs, but to have a poor captcha that requires a few guesses really puts people off commenting in my experience. The Captcha add-on (I think the company is called Captcha?) is great though, it gives you audio and clear visible words from random e-books/websites. It should be uniform across all sites…

Thanks for the great plugin. I use the Elegant Grunge Modified theme, which frames all photos, and I’m having trouble using your plugin because it creates a large square frame around all the icons. Right now I have disabled all of my frames so that I can use your plugin, but it is possible for me to continue to have frames around my photographs while disabling frames around the Tweet This icons. To do this, I need the name of the image class for all of the Tweet This icons. Is there such a thing? If so, I would really appreciate you telling me exactly what it is.

Ugg… why does that happen? It did this once before. I figured it out. I distilled the httpd.conf Apache configuration file before, but it must’ve been regenerated and it updated it wrongly to use thripp.com’s .htaccess file (even though th8.us is in a separate cPanel account). Terrible behavior. I’ve fixed it for good this time. Sorry for the trouble.

Aliasing seems to be broken. The url trimmer seems to work, and generates a url like this: http://fkd3d.th8.us
But following that link just goes to that link–not the aliased url– and gives this message:

I think the latest version has a built-in redirect to use TinyURL if th8.us is down. But the redirect doesn’t seem to be working.

th8.us is currently offline, rendering this plugin inoperable. It now causes WordPress to stall when loading pages, rendering sites inoperable. Suggest changing the shortening URL, or allowing choice in settings of various services.
I found that losing weight is not that hard as anyone would think. It sure takes commitment and following a simple plan but the key element is persistance.

This plugin worked fine on my blogs for about a week then when I tried adding it to another blog it caused it to hang. Eventually it started crashing my other blogs that used to work as well. I had to remove it unfortunately, an update would be nice, I really liked this plugin!

A very slight change to the plugin code would allow “Tweets about this post” to still work with services such as Bit.ly that use case sensitive links.
I’m presuming that this is a problem because the Twitter search API itself is not case sensitive. However, since the API will return at worst too many results (i.e. unrelated), you can then filter the unrelated ones out in the foreach loop. You only need to do a case sensitive check for the url in each of the tweets returned by the API and throw out the ones that fail.
Of course, this will add a tad bit of overhead, but it should be inconsequential on all but the busiest of blogs, and any caching would pretty much render its effects moot.

using tweet this inserts some next to each item, which is fine with the normal feed, but not with the feed generated by the podcasting plugin.

Awesome read. I’ve been throwing out a lot of stuff, I think the less clutter the better you feel anyway. And I’m not sure if it was tongue and cheek, but I just did get rid of my health insurance. Tweet This v 1.3.9 was causing “Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded” on my blog. I deactivated the plugin and the errors stopped. But, I really like this plugin and have not found a replacement.
I re-activated it but disabled the “Display ‘Tweets about this post’list below Tweet This links”. That’s the source of the problem. I also am using “Local URL Service”. It seems to be working fine this way.
Let me know if you implement a fix.

What you really need to make sure about though is that the blog your are commenting on is in your niche.
It’s really easy to get blacklisted by Akismet or Mollom if you go about commenting on “dofollow” blogs in the wrong way.
Even more importantly, you should check the sites on your list before just copying and pasting it from some other out of date source.
For instance, this site rpc.blogrolling.com hasn’t been do follow anymore.

Thanks for the great plugin. I got this message:
“Allow_url_fopen and curl are disabled in your PHP configuration.
All URLs will be served locally, regardless of your chosen URL service.
To fix this, try adding these lines to your php.ini file:
`extension = curl.so` and `allow_url_fopen = on`.”
I searched my server and don’t have a “php.ini” file. Does it go by any other names? I really have no clue about php.ini files - making them or finding them on my site (other than a search). I really don’t know how to fix this problem so that I can use the short-url options. Therefore, I won’t use this excellent plugin until this mystery is solved.
Can you make a php.ini file that we can just upload to our site? I hope you can help me get this issue solved.

lemme know if you find a fix. I tried disabling the other couple plug ins and re-uploaded tweet this. Neither of which fixed the issue. For some reason, it worked fine for several days. This just popped up out of nowhere for me. You too?

Great, simple plugin. I love it, BUT
ITS KILLING MY SITE. I am having the serious slow down issues of the other guys here too.
I also just upgraded to 2.7.1 also, and that has NOT resolved the problem, even after disabling and re-enabling the plugin.
Keen to use it, but I’ve had to disable it for now, as its literally KILLING the site. The slowdowns are enormous, the page never loads. And sometimes these weird errors appear.

I was enjoying this for the past few days. I am running wp 2.7.1 and the latest version of tweet this. Worked great. This afternoon the url stopped passing as a tinyurl to twitter and my site became inaccessible until I deactivted the plug in. I did get one error about 30 second time out.
Are there any fixes for this?

I’ve been testing this plugin on my new layout (on a different domain in a test folder) but it keeps crashing the database and I have to FTP in and change the name (to deactivate it) before I can get it to work again.
It seems when I use my own URL instead of an URL shortener this doesn’t happen. However that gives me long URL’s. So I was looking into a way to make it better.
Using this plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/link-shortcut/) we can make our own short URL’s which redirect (with a 302, but we can change that to a 301 for better SEO) to the longer URL’s.
However now I have to manually create the shortlink in this plugin and insert it in tweet this. It would be awesome if you could combine this plugin with yours so we can get full control over the short URLs and have all the linkjuice pointing to our own domain.
Hmmm, I’ll try posting this again because the last time it timed out. I read here that a couple people said that it was slowing down their sites and I was wondering if this issue has been fixed yet?

While I can’t stand not taking a shower everyday, I do agree in keeping an organized file of important documents so as to avoid spending too much time looking for it in the future. Keeping good quality supplies are a must. It often goes true in producing good quality work, too.

Somehow, sometimes, things are a little strange. Just decided to use your plugin today. At first I had to finish my theme. Everything’s fine so far. I see the buttons, exactly where I want them to be, the functions (Twitter it, add to delicious) are working, but half an hour after having sent a tweet, the tweeted post shows this message:

It’s still there, and I have absolutely no idea how it could happen. Used your own “URL shortener” at first, then switched to Tiny and twittered once more… in both cases i receive this message. Oh, by the way: The error message disappeared inbetween for a few minutes. (After having added a post to delicious everything’s fine.)
This error was described earlier, but no solution offered.

Violently to open a new window in a browser - all the same what to put on a table to the user the second monitor without demand. Certainly, to work with two monitors happens sometimes conveniently. Certainly, it is sometimes convenient to open and a new window in a browser that in to look contents from the “basic” window. But that and another should be exclusively voluntary choice of the user.

I agree with what you wrote about universities not giving the students a good email address. I have seen that frequently, though my personal experiences were fairly lucky. I had one that was simply mylastname@myuniversity.edu and another one that shortened my name, which was annoying.

One problem is that if the permalink has a space in it (e.g. 2009/04/the website/), it will give errors with respect to fopen on line 29/30.
This can be fixed by adding in the function: function tt_read_file($url) {
$url = str_replace(’ ‘, “%20″,$url);
