Author lists for collaborative blogs

By Richard X. Thripp at 2008-06-01T18:42:45Z in News, with these tags: authors, collaboration, community, connections, lists, rss, jump to comment form. 172 words.

I’ve modified the Add User Widget (read: Collaborative Blogging is Here). It now displays the authors below itself, with links to their posts and RSS feeds. Here’s an example:

Authors:
Mr. Photography (rss)
Richard X. Thripp (rss)

The list above can be seen in the sidebar at my Adventures in Photography community. No one has added themselves yet (Mr. Photography is an admin account, not that I need a separate one), so you can add yourself, if you’re logged in, by clicking “Add User.” Then, once you make at least one post, you’ll appear in the authors list. The links are to the posts and an RSS feed just for the posts of the particular user in the particular community, which is great for your readers to keep track of you, especially if there are a lot of authors. For now, it’s mandatory (I added it right in the add users widget), but if any community gets really popular and their list is too long, I’ll figure out how to move it to a separate page.
