Thripp.com is now fully cached

I blogged before about how I had to give up caching because it doesn’t work on Wordpress MU. That was with my old web host (Netfirms), but now that I’ve switched, Wordpress Super Cache works fine.

I enabled it for the whole site. This is great news, because everything is gzipped now and loads real quick. The cache clears every 24 hours. The downside is that the stats in your sidebar stay a day out of date. I changed the wording from “Pageviews today” to “Uniques Yesterday” to clarify. Your tag and category pages may also stay a day behind (never the home page). But it’s so worth it for the speed, compression, and so your popular writing doesn’t kill my server.

Keep in mind that the cached page is only created on an as-needed basis, so the speed benefits only occur after a post has been viewed, for 24 hours on subsequent views. Caching will really help if you have more than one person visiting a post each day (hundreds even). I turned off caching on my random photo page, but for everything else it’s fine. Thanks and enjoy.
